Mills on Market

Announcement for a new thrift shop coming soon.

Thrift Shop

We are so excited to announce that we will be opening a shop right here in New Sharon! We were given a very generous donation in the form of a building on Market Street! We are currently working to have the floor replaced and have high hopes to be open for business  in 2026! If you'd like to help we could use donations of building materials or monetary donations to cover those expenses!

August 2026 Update

For the past several months, we've been working toward a dream that is becoming reality.

Mills on Market isn't just a thrift store—it's a lasting investment in our community. Every purchase made inside our store will help support the mission of Union Mills Community Closet and provide affordable clothing and household goods for local families.

Like many worthwhile projects, our journey hasn't gone exactly as planned.

After demolition began we found that while we believed the damage was only in the floor there was actually cause to remove and rebuild the interior walls as well. Then earlier this year, our contractor received a cancer diagnosis and was forced to step away from the project. We continue to keep him and his family in our prayers.

Since then, our Board of Directors and family members have stepped in to keep construction moving forward. While that has allowed the project to continue, it has also extended our timeline and created additional expenses for insurance, utilities, taxes, materials, and building maintenance.

Many of you have asked, "When can we come help?"

We can't wait for that day!

Right now, portions of the building are still an active construction site, and for everyone's safety, our insurance limits work to Board members and immediate family until construction reaches a safe stage.

Our greatest need today isn't more volunteers—it's financial support.

Your gift will help us complete construction safely so we can throw open the doors, welcome community volunteers for the exciting finishing touches, and finally open Mills on Market to the families we can't wait to serve.

If you've been looking for a way to be part of this project, this is it.

Every donation—large or small—moves us one step closer to opening day.

Thank you for believing in this mission and for walking alongside us. We truly couldn't do this without our community.
